Bareilly cleric threatens to refuse post if demands are not met

“There is no sense in accepting the post if my demands are not met. They had given me assurance before appointing me. Now,both Mulayam and Akhilesh are not giving me appointment. Last Thursday,I got a call from Mulayam and I am hopeful of meeting him on June 20,” he stated.

Raza’s main demand include constitution of a committee of senior government officials to probe the communal riots that have occurred since Akhilesh took charge as CM. Raza is not satisfied with the investigation being done by local police and demanded a probe by a committee of officials.

Raza also objected to compensation given to family members of Nanhey Yadav,the slain village pradhan of Ballipur. “If my demands are not met,I will reject the post with a thanks. Then we will contest Lok Sabha elections against Mulayam’s party,” he stated.

Meanwhile,Shahzil said that he is hopeful Raza will calm down after meeting Mulayam. “We have fixed his appointment with the SP president and hopefully things will settle down. We are trying to reason out with him. Veerpal Singh Yadav,the district unit president of SP,too,is working towards settling the issue. All depends on the June 20 meeting,” he added.
