Nearly a week after Prayagraj police informed a local court that two minor sons of jailed former MP Atiq Ahmed had been sent to a child protection home on March 2 after they were reportedly found in Chakia Kasari Masari area of the city, Atiq’s wife Shaista Parveen in an application filed before a Prayagraj court through her lawyer has stated that her children were not found at the protection home when her acquaintances went there searching for them.

She said protection home authorities told her acquaintances that her children were not admitted to the children’s shelter home.

“In a fresh application, we prayed the court to direct Dhoomanganj police and the child protection home to tell the whereabouts of the children. The court on Friday issued direction to the police station concerned to provide specific information on the matter,” said her lawyer Vijay Mishra. The matter will come up for a hearing on March 13.

Atiq, his wife, his younger brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf and a few others have been named in the murder case of Umesh Pal, a key witness in the 2005 murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal and his two gunners in broad daylight in Dhoomanganj area of Prayagraj on February 24.

Police said Parveen is on the run. Earlier, Shaista Parveen moved the court stating that police had “illegally detained” her two minor sons on February 24 and that she had no information about her children since then. Following this, the court directed the police to submit their reply. On March 4, Dhoomanganj police said both were sent to the child protection home on March 2.
