At 9:15 am today, Lucknow to hit pause as national anthem is heard across state capital

The national anthem will also be broadcast simultaneously across the city through LED screens, public announcement systems and Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS).

Officials said that in order to make more people aware of this plan, instructions have been issued to ensure that a siren is sounded five minutes in advance. The city police have been directed to designate a nodal officer at every intersection in the city to ensure that traffic is stopped one minute before and smooth traffic flow is resumed after the national anthem.

Meanwhile, as per the directions issued by Chief Secretary Singh for the entire state, on August 15, 2024, at 8 am, the national flag should be hoisted on the premises of government and non-government buildings and the flag salute offered, laying emphasis on strengthening the spirit of “national unity, integrity,

secularism and communal harmony”, while also paying tribute to freedom fighters.

It has also been suggested that programmes should be organised at all educational institutes, including collective singing of the national anthem.

The history of the freedom struggle should be briefly told to students and inspiring incidents from the lives of the patriots who sacrificed their lives for the country should be recounted, so that “national consciousness” is awakened in them.

Dramas, symposiums, debate competitions, exhibitions and essay writing competitions should also be organised wherever possible, to “awaken the feeling of patriotism”. Along with the public welfare programme/schemes run by the government, a wide range of educational, social and cultural activities should also be organised.

Districts and institutions have also been asked to organise informative events that elaborate on the welfare steps undertaken by the government.
