State Finance Minister Lalji Verma,will present the annual budget of the state for the fiscal 2011-12 in the state Assembly on February 8. The budget session will commence from February 4.
This will be the last budget to be presented by the current BSP-led regime in the Assembly. As the state will go for Assembly polls early next year,for the fiscal 2012-13,instead of regular budget the state government will bring a finance bill seeking vote on account for the first six months of the next fiscal.
BSP came to power in the state in May 2007 and chief minister Mayawati,who then also held the portfolio of the Finance department,had presented the first budget for 2007-08 in June 2007.
As per the tentative programme announced by the Parliamentary Affairs department,the finance bill be taken up for consideration and passage on March 1.There will be 17 sittings of the Assembly during the budget session.
The Assembly is likely to be adjourned sine die on March 1. The Business Advisory committee of the Assembly is likely to meet here on Thursday to formally endorse the programme and the joint session will begin with the address by Governor BL Joshi on Friday.
During the budget session,the government is likely to introduce UP Prohibition of Ragging in Educational Institutions Bill 2010,UP Plastics and Other Non Bio-degradable Garbage (regulation of use and disposal) (amendment) bill 2010 and UP Janhit Guarantee bill 2011.
