Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will join the ‘Asha Yatra’ (walk of hope) in Kanpur on January 12.
An initiative of Sri M’s ‘Manav Ekta Mission’, the 7,500-km padyatra (footmarch) from Kanyakumari to Kashmir was flagged off by Congress MP Karan Singh on January 12 last year, marking the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The yatra, which aims at spreading peace, unity and building a strong nation, entered UP on December 5 and will travel through 13 districts in 67 days.
It will enter Kanpur on January 9 and reach Green Park Stadium there on January 12 where it would be joined by the CM, according to district administration officials.
Manav Ekta Mission claimed that Akhilesh will be sixth chief minister to attend this yatra after his counterparts in Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
In December, the padyatra was in Varanasi where it undertook cleaning of Ganges and held a peace and harmony convention.
Sri M, claimed to be was born as Mumtaz Ali in 1949, is a spiritual guru, educationist and social reformer. He leads two organisations ‘Satsang Foundation’ and ‘Manav Ekta Mission’.
