Akhilesh in no hurry to revoke SDM’s suspension

Nagpal,a 2010 batch IAS officer,was suspended Saturday night by the state government for demolishing the wall of an under-construction mosque in Kadalpur village — allegedly without showing farsightedness and not following the proper procedure.

The action could adversely affect communal harmony in the area,the government said.

Nagpal,who has been attached to Board of Revenue (BoR) in Lucknow,met secretary Anil Kumar and Chairman Jagan Mathews on Tuesday but did not stay long.

Sources said the CM is no mood to revoke Nagpal’s suspension because it had nothing to do with her action against the sand mafia,for which she had drawn support from opposition parties. The suspension was ordered because of the demolition of the wall of the mosque,brought to their notice by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Arshad Madani,they clarified.

“The mosque wall was demolished and now whatever has been done is good. There is nothing more to discuss in it. I had said what I had to say. Now I am busy with my religious duties during Ramzan,” Madani said when asked about the episode.

Regarding the demand for revocation of Nagpal’s suspension,Samajwadi Party state spokesperson Rajendra Choudhary said,“The action has been taken and the whole episode is in the knowledge of the CM. He will take action at most appropriate time.”

SP leaders have also not liked the manner in which the IAS officers’ association took up the issue with the Chief Secretary and highlighted it in the media on Monday.

These officers never dared speak against any action of the Mayawati government,ruling party leaders pointed out.

In its meeting with the Chief Secretary,the association had argued that Nagpal should not have been suspended without a hearing. Besides,there was no report from the district administration that her action had in any way threatened communal peace.
