One-time trusted lieutenant of BSP founder Kanshiram and former minister RK Chaudhary announced his re-entry into the party fold on Thursday, more than 11 years after he had left it.
Welcoming Chaudhary into the party at a press conference,BSP general secretary Naseemuddin Siddiqui said: Our old companion who had got separated from us for some reason has now again joined our family after getting influenced by the party and its national president Mayawati. We thank our national president for her directions in this regard.
Although,Chadhary did not specify the reason which had made him leave the party,he said he had been away from the BSP for 11 years,8 months and 11 days.
I will work with full dedication for the BSP putting at stake my body, heart and money (tan, man, dhan) so that the party wins maximum seats from UP and gets a chance to make Behen Mayawati the next prime minister. Those of my supporters who were with me in these 11 years and somehow developed differences with the BSP should now dedicate themselves for strengthening the party, forgetting all the issues, he said.
Chaudhary said he was thankful to Mayawati for her directions regarding his re-induction in the party,Siddiqui,Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Swami Prasad Maurya and state president Ram Achal Rajbhar for their efforts to bring him back.
Maurya said the comeback of a missionary worker like Chaudhary will support the party in ensuring its victory on 60 Lok Sabha seats in the state so that Mayawati could be made the next prime minister.
Chaudhary,a Pasi leader, who had been associated with the BSP since its inception had left the party on July 21,2001,apparently after his differences with Kanshiram and Mayawati. Before that he had been the minister in three governments formed in 1993 with SP-BSP alliance, and in 1995 and 1997 with the BSP-BJP alliance.
After leaving BSP,he contested 2002 Assembly election as an independent candidate from Mohanlalganj and won. He was later made sports minister in Mulayam Singh Yadavs government,to which he offered his support. In 2004,he formed his own political party known as Rashtriya Swabhiman Party (RSP). He contested the 2007 Assembly election from Mohanlalganj and won. However,he lost in 2009 Lok Sabha and 2012 Assembly elections from the same seat.
The BSP is slated to hold a rally in Mohanlalganj on April 23 when Chaudharys party will be merged with it. Sources said he may be announced the partys candidate for next Lok Sabha polls from Mohanlalganj seat.
SP govt acting with political vendetta: Rajbhar
A day after the UP governments Vigilance Establishment lodged an FIR against BSP state president and former minister Ram Achal Rajbhar for allegedly amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income,he said the Samajwadi Party government was acting against him with political vendetta.
Rajbhar said he welcomes the Vigilance Establishments inquiry after Lokayukta NK Mehrotras recommendation as it will bring out the truth if conducted without any bias. But,the government is mentally torturing me by spreading false claims in the media about my wealth. Earlier,I had come to know through media that I had illegal wealth of Rs 4 crore but now I see the media showing that my (illegal) wealth is Rs 1,100 crore, even when the inquiry has not yet started, he said. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Swami Prasad Maurya said the SP government was working in a planned manner to get all the former ministers of BSP government jailed in order to conceal its failure in controlling the law and order and providing electricity and water to the public. He said the SP government was setting a wrong precedent and it may also become the target of same tradition one day.
