A Teenaged boy of the Razman locality, who had gone missing 11 days ago,was found alive from a dry well in the vicinity on Monday. He was rescued in a joint operation by the Army and the local police and is being treated at the Civil Hospital.
Seventeen-year-old Rocky had gone missing on the evening of December 31.
The boy is weak, but looks all right. We have to get his blood tests done. He is mentally sick and cant explain anything at the moment, said Dr A K Chawla,Chief Medical Superintendent of the Civil Hospital.
The police said,Kallu,a neighbour, who had taken his cattle for grazing outside the village on Monday, heard a voice coming from the dry well. He walked up to the well and saw Rocky lying there.
As the police were informed about Rockys location, they rushed to the spot, along with the Army and the fire brigade, and rescued the boy from the 40-ft-deep well.
By the time the rescue team reached him,Rocky had become unconscious and he was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors found his blood pressure low. He was immediately put on intravenous fluids.
The well is located in an isolated area. As people hardly take that route,no one knew Rocky was lying in a well 200 yards from his house, said Jata Shankar,in charge of the Cantt police station.
The elder brother of the boy,Arun Kumar, said an FIR was filed with the Cantt police on January 2 after the family failed to locate him. When I saw Rocky lying unconscious in the well,I thought he would not survive. Its Gods grace that he survived for so many days without food and water in extreme cold conditions, he added.
