A Badaun court has issued orders to attach the property of former BSP MLA Yogendra Sagar, who is an accused in a case of abduction and gangrape of a 24-year-old girl in 2008. Sagar failed to appear before the court despite summons and warrant.

“Sagar was declared absconder by the court in March last year. We had recently moved an application before the court stating that we suspected Sagar was planning to leave the country after disposing off his property. We mentioned addresses of five houses and offices which he was planning to sell off. Considering these facts,Judicial Magistrate Awadesh Kumar issued orders for attaching his property,” said the victim’s lawyer Pradeep Sharma.

Sagar had won the 2007 Assembly elections from Bilsi constituency in Badaun. In April,2008,the girl went missing. She was found after 17 days and her missing report was altered into kidnapping.

However, the police, after investigation, filed a closure report. However,in her statement before the court, the girl alleged that she had been raped by the then MLA and his associates Meenu Sharma and Tejendra Sagar.
