The body of an eight-year-old girl with injury marks in private parts was found bundled in a gunny bag near her house in Chhibramau police station area of Kannauj district Saturday.

The girl’s clothes were ripped off and only a blood soaked undergarment was found on the body.

Although the girl was reportedly missing since Friday afternoon, her family had not filed any report in this regard.

The police said the injury marks in the minor’s private parts suggest she was raped before being murdered.

With no other injury marks anywhere else on the body, the police said she was either smothered or strangulated to death.

Additional SP, Kannauj, Subhash Chandra said they are waiting for the autopsy report to know the exact cause behind the girl’s death and also to get a confirmed opinion on whether or not she was raped.

He also said the body appears to have been dumped near her house some time Friday night.

The police is probing if a local resident could be behind the crime. The victim’s family, however, has not named anyone in the case so far.
On Saturday morning, a local resident spotted the gunny bag lying near a pit and informed others. The police were reportedly called and the bag was opened with the girl’s body in it.

SHO, Chhibramau police station, A C Verma said nobody has so far come forward with any information on where the girl was spotted last.
It is reported the girl had left home on Friday afternoon to play outside with friends but did not return. Although the family members launched a search nearby, they did not inform the police about her being missing.
