Six unidentified bodies were fished out on Wednesday from the Ganga in Jera village by the fishermen and locals,police said. The bodies of three men and three women,according to the police,could be those of the victims of the Uttarakhand tragedy.
The bodies have been kept at the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital. We will be sending the photographs of these bodies to the control room in Uttarakhand as they could be victims of the tragedy there, said Superintendent of Police (Crime),Arun Kumar Pandey. He added that the city police here too would put in the efforts to identify the bodies.
All six appear to be aged 50 and above,and it is likely that they had gone on pilgrimage. The bodies,however,are badly decomposed and could not be easily identified,police said
Circle Officer (Meja) Kunwar Gyananjay Singh said,Those living on the banks say that finding bodies in the river is not unusual. But they got alarmed and alerted us when so many of them resurfaced together.
