3 accused nabbed in Meerut gangrape case

The Meerut police have arrested three persons accused in connection with the alleged gangrape of a minor girl in a moving car.

The Meerut police have arrested three persons accused in connection with the alleged gangrape of a minor girl in a moving car and in a flat by four persons Friday evening.

Those arrested include Amit Bhadana who owns the flat,his driver Azad Singh Gurjar and the victim’s Facebook friend Shobhit Gurjar. The police have also seized the Tata Safari that was used to dump the victim at a lonely place near a local mall. The accused were nabbed from L-block crossing in Nauchandi area at around 1 am on Tuesday,the police said.

All three arrested would be booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012. Meerut SSP Deepak Kumar said,“The properties of Amit Bhadana,a registered builder,will be attached as all three will also be booked under the Gangster Act. He owns two or three flats in Meerut. We have seized the vehicle used in the incident,” said the SSP.

The victim will be called for an identification parade on Wednesday and her statement will be recorded under Section 164 of CrPC in the presence of a magistrate. The SSP said the victim had befriended Shobhit on Facebook and,on the fateful day,she had agreed to meet him as he assured her to celebrate her birthday.

“She was taken to the flat owned by Amit Bhadana in Lakshmi Nagar area where she was raped by Shobhit and when they were on their way to dump her,Amit also raped her in the moving Tata Safari. The hunt is on for one more accused. We are hopeful to get a breakthrough soon” he said.
