The 23-year-old woman, who was being searched by the police for allegedly murdering a community health centre (CHC) in-charge at a rest house in Kanpur Dehats A barpur area Sunday, was arrested Friday.
Preeti Valmiki, who lives in Govind Nagar slums, told the police that she was being sexually harassed by Dr Satish Chandra since she was 13. The doctor used to help her family financially and had assured her of a government job, said Kanpur Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yashasvi Yadav.
Preeti confessed to have murdered Dr Chandra after she noticed that he had begun eyeing her elder sister, said Yadav.
The SSP said the woman said she had killed the doctor single-handedly with a surgical knife. She first mixed sedatives in his drink at the rest house; after he fell unconscious, she first slit his throat and later castrated him.
She then put the genitals in a polythene bag, went to a courier agency and booked them in the name of the doctors wife.
The woman told the SSP that she had come in contact with the doctor in 2003 when he had a clinic at Barra locality. She had gone to him for treatment. Soon after,he started visiting her home and offering financial help. He even offered her a job at his clinic where he allegedly injected her with sedatives one day and had sex with her.
The sexual assault reportedly became routine and she became addicted to the sedatives.
The woman also alleged that the doctor had illicit relations with several women, who included health workers and his subordinates.
She also told the police during interrogation that she had learnt using surgical knife from Dr Chandra and she had used the same sedatives that the doctor used to give her.
Sources said the woman was identified Thursday with the help of the address submitted by her to get a mobile phone. While the police team reached her house Friday, she left from the rear door and surrendered at the Govind Nagar police station.
The woman said she had planned to murder another doctor in Kanpur who had reportedly raped a seven-year-old girl a few days ago.
The Kanpur SSP said in order to help the woman with relief in legal procedure, they were considering mentioning in the police case diary that the murder was an act of self-defence.
