17-year-old alleges rape at police outpost in Badaun,three constables held

Four persons,including three police constables,have been arrested after a 17-year-old girl alleged that she was raped inside a police outpost in Badaun on Sunday night.

The girl had come from Rampur on Sunday morning,along with a relative Ikram Khan,to visit a shrine. They were sleeping on the ground near the shrine at night when three police constables,along with one Gopal,arrived and took them to the Lalpur Chowki outpost for questioning. The police said some locals had complained that they were indulging in objectionable acts in a public place.

Late in the night,they were taken to the Kotwali police station. There,the girl alleged,Gopal raped her after the constables went out for some work,Inspector M K Saxena said.

On Monday,the girl was sent for medical examination and her statement recorded in a court.

The three constables held in the case are Ausaf Ali,Majid Hussain and Sumit. Gopal is a local resident and is jobless.
