Lucknow:A 16-year-old boy reportedly drowned in Gomti river in Bakshi Ka Talab area where he had gone to immerse the idol of Lord Ganesha on Saturday afternoon. The boy was identified as Shivam Rathor,a resident of Jankipuram area. Bakshi Ka Talab Circle Officer Ajay Pratap Singh said the incident took place around 4 pm when the boy had gone with the procession for immersing the idol of Lord Ganesha. Eyewitnesses say he slipped inside the river and before he could be brought out by the people,he had already died,Singh said.
Man booked for firing
Lucknow:A man was booked for firing during the procession of Lord Ganeshas idol in Hasanganj police station area of Lucknow on Saturday afternoon. Hasanganj Station Officer Shailendra Singh said the police took Amit Srivastava,a resident of Rajajipuram,into custody after he fired from his double barrel gun at Jhulelal park ground where the immersion of idols was taking place. When police took Srivastavas gun,he and his group members started a protest there,he said. They were booked under various sections of IPC,but later released after submitting personal bonds.
