A day after six persons,including three policemen,were arrested on charges of illegally accessing call detail records (CDR),the Special Cell arrested a Delhi Police head constable on Friday. Police said Head Constable Raj Kumar was posted in the office of ACP (Khajuri Khas),Northeast Delhi,and the six men had allegedly accessed 52 CDRs of several politicians,bureaucrats,corporate heads and journalists.
Investigating officials said Raj Kumar,along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Gopal Das who was arrested on Thursday,had accessed the CDRs by sending a request illegally through the ACPs email ID. According to police,the then ACP Bani Singh Ahlawat was unaware of the request.
Police said 17 CDRs had been sought illegally using the ACPs email ID.
It is alleged that Raj Kumar had sent seven of these requests. The requests for the other 10 CDRs were sought by ASI Das,police said.
Police said Raj Kumars name came up while Das was being questioned.
Besides Das,police on Thursday arrested Head Constable Harish Singh Negi,Constable Harish Kumar,Home Guard Mehraj Saife and private detectives Puneet Verma and Alok Gupta.
Police said Raj Kumar had worked with the six to access the CDRs.
