Slain pradhan Nanhey Yadav’s family is staging a fast-unto-death agitation at Balipur village in Pratapgarh, alleging apathetic attitude of CBI which is investigating the murders of DSP Ziaul Haque, the pradhan and his brother Suresh. The family members, who began the agitation on Thursday, have demanded the CBI director to come and talk to them.

Yadav’s brother Pawan said on Friday evening that his 65-year-old father Dukhi Ram’s condition is deteriorating, but none from the district administration or CBI has visited them so far. He also said that they will continue the agitation till April 12.

He added that he has sent a complaint to the CBI director through speed-post and e-mail. Copies of the complaint had also been faxed each to the Prime Minister’s office, chief minister,ADG (Law & Order) and district magistrate and SP of Pratapgarh. He has also handed over a copy of the complaint to Kunda sub-divisional magistrate (SDM),on Friday.

Pawan said he had written to the CBI director that the officials heading the investigating team and camping in Pratapgarh had refused to initiate action into the complaint related to former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya and his aides threatening his family members.

Pawan had handed over the complaint to CBI last month alleging that Raja Bhaiya and his aides were threatening him and other family members not to speak against the former minister and his men before the agency. He had also mentioned the instances of alleged harassment of Nanhey Yadav and his brother Suresh by Raja Bhaiya and his aides since 2003.

He said the CBI then had assured them of getting an FIR lodged against Raja Bhaiya and others. But,they had now refused to intervene and have asked them to go to the local police.

In the fresh complaint sent to the CBI director,Pawan has said that an official in the investigating team had told his brother Sudhir to withdraw the complaint against Raja Bhaiya,as his family will otherwise land in trouble after the CBI left Pratapgarh.

When inquired about the alleged role of Nanhey Yadav’s son in the DSP’s murder,Pawan replied that they were ready to face the consequences if CBI found evidence against the boy.
