Was manhandled by local police on Tiljala visit, alleges NCPCR chairperson
The NCPCR chairperson will also visit Malda on Saturday and meet the family of a minor girl who was recently allegedly raped inside a school.
NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo (ANI/File) The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson Priyank Kanoongo on Friday alleged that he was manhandled by a Kolkata policeman inside Tiljala police station in the state capital.
Kanoongo is visiting Kolkata to inquire about a minor girl’s death in Kolkata’s Tiljala on March 27. “We were in Tiljala inquiring about the recent incident and local police were stationed there. We saw that they were shooting videos of our conversations with the family. When I objected that it wasn’t right to record our conversation with the victim’s family, he said he had orders. He pushed me and even snatched the camera that I was carrying. I was surrounded by a group of policemen and had to leave the place,” said Kanoongo.
