The Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to reach out to the Trinamool Congress, Congress and Left Front MPs in the state to garner support for the construction of Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya. The decision was taken on a day when the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing on petitions challenging the Allahabad High Court’s verdict in the Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid site title dispute to January 2019.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Sachindranath Sinha, VHP organising secretary for West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Andaman Islands, said the outfit will launch a campaign in this regard after Diwali and seek support from all MPs from Bengal.
“Today we saw that the Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on petitions challenging the Allahabad Court verdict…. it is taking a lot of time. We feel that the central government must enact a law in Parliament to start the construction of the Ram Mandir. After Diwali we will meet the MPs from TMC, Congress and Left Front to seek their support on the issue. We will also ask them to support a bill on the construction of the temple if it comes up in Parliament,” Sinha said.
The Sangh Parivar outfit will also organise Hindu Sammelans across all districts in the state in November and December to reach a consensus on Ram Mandir. The programme will culminate in a seven-day religious event starting from December 18.
