Three people died and nine were injured in an accident in south Kolkata on Monday morning.
The incident took place at 8.35 am,near Rash Behari Avenue and Sarat Bose Road crossing. A West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation Bus (WB25 C 5091) of Sonarpur-B Garden route was on its way from Gariahat towards Kalighat when a cycle came on its way. Eyewitnesses said the bus lost control trying to save the cyclist and turned on its side. The conductor of the bus,Babai Mistry (28) and two passengers Tapati Dutta (62) and Tulsidas Banerjee (50) were crushed under the bus and died on the spot. Nine others were admitted to Shishu Mangal Hospital with serious injuries. Urban Development minister Firhad Hakim,who also reached the spot,said the families of the deceased would get a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each.
