The Congress and Trinamool leaders declared that there is no problem regarding their alliance at the grassroots level and the differences between them in some areas have been resolved.

In a show of solidarity,Trinamool leaders, including Leader of the Opposition Partho Chatterjee, participated in a party conference organised by the West Bengal Youth Congress at Mahajati Sadan on Tuesday. The leaders hoped that the CPM will lose a number of seats in Bengal in the Lok Sabha elections.

Interestingly,West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) chief Pranab Mukherjee and Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee jointly warned their own partymen of stern action if they opposed the alliance at the grassroots level.

“There was some opposition at the district-level among Congress leaders and workers. We are telling our workers that this alliance is a political necessity and they have understood this,” said senior state Congress leader Pradip Bhattacharya.
