Trinamool Congress MLA Manirul Islam has threatened to behead a Congress leader in Birbhum district.
MLA from Labhpur Manirul Islam, addressing a party rally yesterday, asked district Congress leader Sabyasachi Dutta to mend his ways, otherwise his head would be severed.
Bapi (Sabyasachi) Dutta, listen very carefully. It wont take a minute for me to behead you if you dont mend your ways. If you dont mend your ways,it will be much easier for me to behead you, Islam told the rally at Sainthia, which was also telecast by some news channels.
The police today said Dutta had filed an FIR against Islam, saying that the MLA had publicly threatened to finish him off if he came in the way of TMCs panchayat election campaign.
Local Congress sources said Islam had recently switched over to the Trinamool from the Forward Bloc.
On July 17,Trinamools Birbhum president Anubrata Mondal had allegedly asked partymen to attack policemen with bombs and burn houses of Independent candidates during a panchayat election rally at a village in Bolpur sub-division.
The next day,Trinamool MP from Krishnagar Tapas Pal,while addressing a rally at Tehatta, asked party activists to beat up CPM workers with shoes.
CM blames unholy nexus of oppn parties,Maoists
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday blamed the unholy nexus of the Congress,CPM,BJP and the Maoists for the deaths in Murshidabad during the panchayat polls in the state. This nexus has let their cadre loose in rural Bengal to create mayhem with a view to defeat the Trinamool. In Murshidabad,a Congress Union minister is moving freely and intimidating people. But the people of Bengal will foil their designs, Mamata said during her speech at an election rally at Mathabhanga in Coochbehar district. The CM also attacked the Centre for the plight of the national highways. She appealed to separatist outfits like KLO to eschew violence and join the mainstream. You drop guns or I myself will snatch your guns. Darjeeling and Junglemahal are smiling. You too will smile soon, she said. ENS
