Cyrus Mistry,Mukesh and Anil Ambani,Azim Premji and Sajjan Jindal are among the industrialists invited to the industrial meet to be hosted by the West Bengal government in Mumbai on August 1.

The industrial meet to be presided over by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been named “Why Bengal is a destination for investments”.

“We have prepared a list of 100 stalwarts which comprises 65 industrialists from Mumbai,Delhi,Chennai,Hyderabad etc,25 bankers and other high officials from the government. We have an environment conducive for investment in the state and we are sure we will be able to convince the industrialists about this,’’ said Commerce and Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee.

The minister has confirmed the names of four industrialists from West Bengal who are joining the meet. They include ITC chairman Y C Deveshwar,Managing Director of Patton Group of Companies Sanjay Budhia, chairman of Apeejay Surrendra Group Karan Paul and Harsh Neotia of Ambuja Neotia Group.

Tata Sons’ chairman Cyrus Mistry, who came to Kolkata 10 days ago to attend Tata Global Beverages annual general meeting, reaffirmed the group’s faith in the state’s bid for industrialisation. “The Tatas have not left Bengal, nor does it plan to do that ever,’’ the chairman had said.

Since it came to power in May 2011,the state government has been organising industrial meets, both inside and outside the state. While two such meets have been held in Kolkata and Haldia, one was held in Delhi last year.

Chatterjee also said the state government will give incentives to the industrialists who have met the deadline of starting their project. “They will be given certificates of appreciation as well as tax benefits,” the minister said.

“The Chief Minister is personally supervising everything so that the event is a grand success,” an official from the department told The Indian Express.
