Amidst the row over Tapas Paul’s controversial remarks on women, President Pranab Mukherjee’s son and Congress MP Abhijit Mukherjee said that the matter should end now as the actor and Trinamool Congress MP has apologised.
“Since Tapas Paul has apologised and his party forgave him. The matter should end there,” Abhijit, the son of President Pranab Mukherjee, said, adding that such a remark should not have been made at all but has happened due to slip of tongue.
“Only Lok Sabha Speaker can take a decision regarding scrapping of his membership,” Mukherjee, the Congress MP from Jangipur, said, expecting that everybody should behave in a matured manner.
Paul has made an unconditional apology for allegedly threatening to kill CPI-M workers and having their women raped after he was asked by an embarrassed party leadership to apologise. The remarks were condemned by opposition political parties as well as noted personalities.
