Skeletons of snake charmers ‘killed’ by Maoists found

The skeletons of two missing snake charmers who were shot dead allegedly by the Maoists with the suspicion of being police informers were dug out from a jungle at Jhargram in West Midnapore district on Sunday.

Police said the skeletons of the duo — Haripada Doloi and Tarun Singh – were dug out from a jungle beside Kansabati river near Dumuria village and were identified by their wives

Spots in the jungle were dug up this morning after the villagers complained to the police that the Maoists shot and buried the bodies there.

Doloi’s wife Anjani and Tarun’s wife Gita identified the bodies from the clothes and the rings on their fingers. However,DNA and other forensic tests would be carried out on the skeletons to ascertain their identity,police said.
