Notification for elections in 12 municipalities was issued by the State Election Commission (SEC) Friday,for which the commission may seek the assistance of central forces.
The final decision will be taken after Mondays meet with Director-General of Police Naparajit Mukherjee and Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Banibrata Basu.
An all-party meeting was held at the office of the Commission. Officials of the poll panel will hold a meeting with senior government officials,including the states home secretary,Monday,a senior SEC official said.
The polls in 12 municipal bodies extending from municipalities like Alipurduar in the north to Diamond Harbour in the south will be the next major elections after the recently concluded panchayat elections.

The date for polls has been fixed as September 21,while the counting will begin from September 24.
The last date for filing the nomination papers is August 23 and the final date for withdrawal of candidature is August 26.
The counting is scheduled on September 24 and the election process has to be completed by September 26,the poll panels notification said.
