The primary teachers recruitment examination has come under the scanner of the Calcutta High Court after several candidates challenged it on the grounds that several questions were out of the syllabus.
Hearing the petition,Justice Biswanath Somadder said the state government can appoint primary teachers,however,the fate of such recruitment would be on the basis on the final outcome of the writ petition.
On March 31 this year,about 55 lakh candidates appeared for the written examination for the recruitment of about 35 thousand primary teachers across the state. More than 100 candidates later filed petitions alleging that the questions were out of syllabus. in all the four subjects.
A counsel for the National Council For Teacher Education (NCTE),which monitored the examination,Tuesday admitted to fault in setting questions in all the four papers.
Justice Somadder directed the state government to file an affidavit and said the case will come up for hearing after puja vacations.
