Rights panel seeks report

The West Bengal Human Rights Commission on Tuesday took the suo moto cognizance of the incident and asked the local police administration to submit a report on the recent spate of violence and crime against women in the area.

The West Bengal Human Rights Commission on Tuesday took the suo moto cognizance of the incident and asked the local police administration to submit a report on the recent spate of violence and crime against women in the area. A senior human rights official said,“The commission has asked the IG (South Bengal) to submit a report within four weeks on the recent spate of violence in the area and on the incident of a doctor being hacked to death for protesting against molestation in the area.
