Presidency to advertise in foreign journals

The mentor group and the council members of Presidency University on Monday decided to publish the advertisement for the chairs of the Distinguished Professor Programme of the university in foreign educational magazines like Times Higher Education supplement and Chronicle of Higher Education supplement of the USA.

The mentor group and the council members of Presidency University on Monday decided to publish the advertisement for the chairs of the Distinguished Professor Programme of the university in foreign educational magazines like Times Higher Education supplement and Chronicle of Higher Education supplement of the USA.

Sugata Bose,chairman of the mentor group,said the decision was taken in order to attract foreign scholars. It was also decided that to attract best scholars we will pay them higher salary package and their salary scale will not be at par with University Grant Commission (UGC).

The Chairs will be created in the name of great Indian scholars like Rabindranath Tagore,Jagdish Chandra Bose,Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Swami Vivekananda. Eminent personalities from various fields will be hired for the programme.

Meanwhile,the council ratified the names of four professors of economics who will be appointed soon. Among the four professors one is from JNU Delhi,another from Darjeeling Government College,while two are alumni of the university.

Prof Malabika Sarkar,V-C of the university,said they are yet to finalise the name of its new campus at Rajarhat.
