City police Commissioner S K Purakyastha on Friday refused to accept a Left Front deputation on law and order, said CPM leader Biman Bose.

The Left Front, which had taken out a procession, protesting “worsening law and order situation” and attack on party offices by ruling Trinamool Congress supporters, had planned to submit a deputation to the police commissioner. “The police commissioner has clearly informed us that he would not take any deputation from the Left Front. He would only talk if anybody from us meets with him,” Bose said. He said the Trinamool had “promised to establish democracy by removing ‘partycracy’. We are seeing what kind of of democracy they have established.”
