Petrol pump ransacked,tank contained water

Car owners and drivers had their vehicles come to a standstill shortly after using the petrol pump at Champasari.

A petrol pump owned by a former India football captain in Siliguri was ransacked by angry car owners and lorry drivers after it was found that one of the tanks allegedly contained water instead of fuel.

Car owners and drivers had their vehicles come to a standstill shortly after using the petrol pump at Champasari. “Fuel experts sent there said one of the three pumps was filled with 4,000 litres of water,” Siliguri CP K Jayaraman said.

“Two employees have been arrested,” he said. North Bengal Petroleum Dealers Association president Shaymal Pal Choudhury said the pump dealership was in the name of an Indian football icon. No FIR has been lodged against the footballer yet.
