Patient ‘molested’ in Belle Vue OT

Sources in the hospital said the accused — Prodip,a Group D staffer — used to assist anaesthetists in operations. He used to wash OT instruments and shift patients from the OT table to the general ward.

Dr Pradip Tandon,chief executive officer,said they had received a complaint letter and had formed a committee to probe the matter.

The woman,a resident of Dhakuria,was admitted on March 31 for a gallbladder operation.

After the surgery,a staffer was asked to shift her from the OT table to the stretcher,during which she was allegedly molested. No nurses were present at that time,she alleged.

CCTV footage of the hospital revealed that some of the staffers were present at the OT table and the woman,who was in a semi-conscious state at that time,identified one person after hearing his voice.

The patient’s complaint also mentions gross negligence on the part of the hospital authorities,as well as lack of security.

Recently,a deaf and dumb girl was allegedly molested by a junior doctor at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. The doctor was withdrawn from his services.
