NEET paper leak: CBI raids apartment in New Town, Kolkata

Several people from Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Gujarat has been arrested after CBI was handed over the investigation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started a raid Wednesday afternoon in a New Town’s apartment in Kolkata. Sources said the raid was in connection with an investigation into the NEET-paper leak.

The New Town flat belonged to Amit Kumar, a Jharkhand resident. The CBI special unit team reached the flat on the second floor of the apartment complex along with a key specialist, following which they started the search operation.

On June 22, after the investigation was handed over to the CBI, the central investigation agency arrested several people from Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Gujarat in connection with the NEET question leak.

On questioning, the arrested named two conspirators in the incident. Sikander Jadbendu among the two has been arrested while the CBI is yet to locate Sanjeev Mukhia.

According to the sources, Sanjeev is the mastermind behind the paper leak scandal.

Investigations revealed that Sanjeev had regular trips to several states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand.

It is after preliminary investigation that the six people from Jharkhand named the New Town resident Amit Kumar.

Investigators are still looking into Amit’s involvement in the NEET scam.
