Maoist posters have appeared calling for a week-long strike from July 28 to August 3,Kotwali Itna area in Nadia district,police sources said. The 25 posters pasted on different walls on Friday were torn off by the police,the sources said. A poster called for an countrywide strike on 28 July to demand agricultural revolution,while another offered red salutes to Maoist leaders Kishenji and Sashadhar Mahato.
Co-passenger molests woman in bus,arrested
A woman was allegedly molested inside a luxury long-distance bus by a co-passenger who was later arrested from the bus in Burdwan district. Superintendent of Police S M H Mirza said the woman was travelling from Salt Lake to Durgapur in the private bus while the accused was sitting beside her. The accused,a resident of Polba in Hooghly district,allegedly molested her in the bus. After the woman found a mobile police van at a place between Gangpur and Ullas in the district,she asked the driver to stop the bus and recounted her plight to the police,Mirza said. The police brought both the woman and the accused to the police station and arrested him on the basis of her complaint.
