Kolkata Metro to run only 124 trains on Holi, none on Orange and Purple line
The metro railway officials said the Dolyatra festival is the reason behind the reduced services.

The Kolkata Metro Railway has drastically cut down the number of trains running across the Blue Line, Green Line-1, and Green Line-2 on Friday (March 14). No metro trains will be plying on the Orange Line and Purple Line on that day, the authorities announced.
The metro railway officials said the Dolyatra festival is the reason behind the reduced services. “Passengers planning to travel on this day are advised to take note of the changes, as services will operate with reduced frequency,” officials said. Here is a look at the details:
Blue Line (North-South Corridor)
Instead of the usual 262 trains, only 60 (30 up and 30 down) will operate.
The first trains will begin at 2.30 pm from all terminal stations: Noapara to Kavi Subhash, Kavi Subhash to Dakshineswar, Dakshineswar to Kavi Subhash, and Noapara to Dakshineswar. The timing of the last services will remain unchanged.
Green Line-2 (Esplanade to Howrah Maidan)
Only 42 trains (21 from Esplanade and 21 from Howrah Maidan) will operate, down from the usual 130. Services will start at 3.00 pm and run every 15 minutes.
Green Line-1 (Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V)
Only 22 trains (11 from Sealdah and 11 from Salt Lake Sector V) will operate, a large reduction from the usual 106. Services will start at 3 pm and run every 30 minutes, and the last trains will run at 8 pm from Salt Lake Sector V to Sealdah and vice versa.
Meanwhile, commercial operations are currently on for the Kavi Subhash (New Garia) to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay (Ruby Crossing) section of the Orange Line, which will connect New Garia (Kavi Subhash station) with the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport through Salt Lake and New Town once fully operational. The Joka-Esplanade stretch falls under the Purple Line.
