State Forward Bloc secretary Naren Chatterjee on Friday reiterated that the CPM’s open call to Left workers to vote for the Congress was its own decision and cannot be viewed as the decision of the Left Front.
“It was not discussed in a Left Front meeting whether we should enter into an alliance with the Congress or not. Therefore, it cannot be viewed as a decision of the Left Front. It is a decision of an individual party,” he said during a news conference.
On October 29, CPM state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra had asked his party workers to vote for Congress in places where it is the only alternative to the BJP. Mishra had extended his party’s support to the Congress in the fight against TMC and BJP.
Meanwhile, Chatterjee said the Forward Bloc had received an invitation from the TMC to attend its January 19 Opposition mega rally. “We have received the invitation from the TMC. We will take a decision on whether to attend it in our next state committee meeting,” he said.
