In a bid to prepare an administrative calendar to expedite works,the state government Thursday circulated the meeting schedule of 15 departments as well as all divisional commissioners and district magistrate of South-24 Parganas for the year 2014,a move the state had never seen before. The Indian Express has accessed a copy of the circular signed by chief secretary Sanjay Mitra.
A meeting presided over by the chief secretary was held at Nabanna on November 30 to review the preparation of the calendar. Mitra,who briefed the media after the meeting said: The idea is being implemented to accelerate government machinery.
While the first meeting (on zoo authority,forest department) will be held on January 3,2014,the last meeting (review of GTA,Home) will be held on December 15,2014.
There are a few topics on which three meetings will be held and the subjects include food procurement (food and supplies),east-west metro (transport),GTA review (home),Kannyashri prakalpa (department of women and child development),and also those of finance,health and family welfare.
The calendar will be very helpful to us as we will get to know what is happening when and we can prepare accordingly, an official of the state government said.
The topics on which two meetings will be held include biometric attendance at Nabanna,(personnel and administration),Writers Repositioning (PWD),reservation in higher education (higher education),right to service (consumer affairs),to name a few.
The calendar mentions the first meeting on Gangasagar mela,a huge congregation that comes after Kumbh mela so far as footfall is concerned,will be held on August 8 next year,something that the state bureaucracy has never seen.
