Heat wave is sweeping most part of the state with one person succumbing in Murshidabad. A traffic constable in Malda,too,died of sunstroke this morning.

Three people have already died due to heat over the past two days in Bankura,where the temperature has been forecast to touch 44ºC in the next 24 hours.

Kolkata Police is doing its bit for men in uniform who are on duty on the streets in the scorching heat. “We have arranged for regular supply of ORS and water to our personnels and we have given them umbrellas and sunglasses. Besides,the department will soon come out with an order to change their duty hours and uniform,to bring some respite from the sweltering weather,” said D Bandopadhyay,DC (traffic).

G C Debnath of the Alipore Met said: “There is a possibility of short spells of rainfall in one or two areas of north and Bengal but most areas of south Bengal will remain hot and humid. Temperature in and around Kolkata is expected to remain around 39 0C .” He added cloudy weather has brought down the temperature by a few notches,but sticky and sweaty weather will stay.
