As counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly polls will begin on Friday morning, the political parties here will be keenly watching the outcome in the neighbouring state since West Bengal is the next to go for elections early next year.

The first Test Match between India and South Africa will begin at Eden Gardens in Kolkata today. In the wake of the Delhi car blast that killed at least nine people, security has been tightened in the city, especially at the Edens.

To ensure the smooth flow of spectators and maintain public safety throughout the five-day cricketing event, Kolkata Police has rolled out a comprehensive traffic regulation plan, marking a significant shift in vehicular movement, particularly in the central business and Maidan areas. Major arteries serving BBD Bag will see diversions, with specific rerouting for buses and minibuses from north, east, and south Kolkata. Furthermore, strict ‘No Parking’ zones have been enforced around Eden Gardens, and the movement of all goods vehicles is temporarily suspended during the match hours.
