Governor MK Narayanan for the second time in recent days came out in support of the State Election Commission (SEC) saying they had no other way than to hold it during the month of Ramzan. “The Supreme Court passed that order and the commission had nothing to do,” the Governor said in Kolkata on Sunday,a day after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the poll panel of taking unilateral decisions.

Cong: attacking SEC is like insulting Constitution

Union minister and Congress MP Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury on Sunday hit out at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for attacking SEC saying “insulting” a constitutional body was similar to insulting the Constitution. “The Chief Minister should restrain herself from attacking the SEC,as everyone in the country has to abide by the Constitution,” Chowdhury said.
