Controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen’s Facebook account has been allegedly deactivated.
In a tweet on Monday, she said, ‘Stupid facebook authority always disable my accounts whenever stupid Islamists make a complaint against my facebook posts’.
Talking to a private television news channel, Nasreen said that it was not the first time that her account had been deactivated but on previous occasions, it would be restored after she would write an application. This time it has not been done.
“Fundamentalist groups don’t want me on Facebook and thus they report in huge numbers to Facebook, and people there block my account off and on. I have been banned from entering both in Bangladesh and West Bengal and my books are inaccessible, too. There are people who want to read my writings but are unable to. For them the social media was a great platform. I, too, thought it would be a great tool of mass communication. It is sad to see that several fake accounts in my name remain active while the authentic account has been disabled. It is a bad policy. I have lost numerous posts and phone numbers which I had in my chats,” she said.
