Eight cops were injured Saturday when a speeding bus rammed into a police kiosk near Chief Minister Mamata Banerjees residence. The injured were rushed to SSKM Hospital,but were later shifted to a government hospital. There are loopholes in the law which provide an escape route to those indulging in such acts, Banerjee said. She rushed to the SSKM Hospital to visit the injured cops. I spoke to them and they are stable, she said. They were initially rushed to the SSKM hospital,but were later shifted to Calcutta Medical Research Institute. all expenses for their treatment will be borne by Kolkata Police. SSKM superintendent Tamal Kanti Ghosh said,One cop suffered injuries in his knee joint,while
another will be undergoing a CT scan to ascertain the damage caused. Others are all stable. The accident occurred when the
private bus hit a police kiosk where cops were on guard. According to reports,the brake of the bus failed and the driver failed to negotiate the bus. The driver was arrested and a mechanical test will be conducted on the vehicle ,a police officer said.
