The CPM on Saturday alleged that Fire Services Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Javed Khan had violated the election code of conduct during a recent rally for the panchayat elections.
CPM state secretary Biman Bose alleged that Khan had used his official car without police permission for the the rally at Basanti South 24 Parganas district.
We demand that the State Election Commission take proper action, Bose told reporters at the party headquarters.
Alleging attacks during the nomination filing on party candidates,Bose said “It is high time that both the state election commission and the state government ensure peaceful polling across the state.
We expect that such incidents of forcible withdrawal of nominations by candidates do not recur, he said.
The CPM also leader urged political parties to protest the state government’s alleged scant regard for democratic values.
