Country needs more fast track courts,says Naidu
BJP MP Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said the country needs more fast track courts for speedy trials.
Reacting to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav being sentenced for five years in the Fodder Scam,BJP MP Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said the country needs more fast track courts for speedy trials.
“It was expected. He was charged with a serious offence involving massive corruption. Justice is delayed but delivered. Hope the sentence will act as a deterrent for the people in power before they indulge in corruption. There is a need to set up fast track courts in the country to try the criminal cases involving politicians and people at high ranks so that justice can be delivered in a speedy manner instead of taking 16 years as in this case,” Naidu said during a press conference.
He said that because of the delay,people are losing their confidence on the judiciary. “Look at scams like 2G,Coalgate,Adarsh,CWG. We can’t find faults in the judicial system. The ruling party is influencing investigating agencies to delay the process.”
When asked to comment on the Congress’ move to withdraw the Bill shielding tainted leaders,he said,“After the withdrawal of the Bill and ordinance,the Prime Minister and the government have become a laughing stock and a lame duck. There is a serious credibility crisis and ethical deficit. No one likes a PM who is a lame duck. Rahul Gandhi has achieved his objective of telling Dr Manmohan Singh who is the boss.”
He termed the whole ordinance affair a “drama” staged by the Congress,and which has “badly exposed the party” and “delivered the message that all was not well within the party”.
On the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,Naidu said there is an anger among the public because of Congress’ betrayal of promises. “Looking at the massive support for (Gujarat Chief Minister) Narendra Modi,the Congress is rattled and in desperation is resorting to dirty politics. They are using the CBI to frame charges against Modi and his cabinet colleagues. They must realise that these negative policies would boomerang,” he said,and warned the ruling party to stay away from Modi.
“Aag lag jayega if they come anywhere close to Modi,” he said.
About BJP’s preparation in West Bengal,Naidu said: “There would be three rallies there and Modi would attend one at Brigade Parade Ground. Between October 20 and November 30,there would be meetings of ‘friends of BJP’ in 42 Lok Sabha constituencies across Bengal. The meetings would be with people who want to join BJP,” he said.
