With the court rejecting the anticipatory bail application of Union Minister of State for Railways Adhir Chowdhury Monday,the possibility of his arrest is increasing.
Police sources said the district administration and the police are now waiting for a final nod from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
A senior police official said: We have received a non-bailable arrest warrant from the court. We are now waiting for a green signal from the state home department. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee holds the charge of state home department. Police had submitted the chargesheet on September 25.
A non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Adhir Chowdhury by additional chief judicial magistrate court on September 27 for alleged conspiracy in the murder of TMC worker Kamal Sheikh in Golbazar area,Murshidabad,in 2011. Mushidabad SP Humayun Kabir,however,said: We are yet to take any decision.
Meanwhile,the West Bengal Congress unit have planned an agitation at R R avenue in central Kolkata.
After the agitation,a congress delegation led by PCC president Pradip Bhattacharya will meet Governor M K Narayan and submit a memorandum. The delegation will include all Congress MP s and MLAs from Murshidabad. We will fight the crisis politically and legally. This is a conspiracy against our party, Bhattacharya said.
