Rift between TMC and West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) grew wider on Friday, with the state general secretary Pradeep Bhattacharya shot a letter to the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee against the alleged attack by the TMC cadres on four WBPCC supporters.
The incident took place on January 25 at Adharpur area in Canning. Our supporters have been shot and have been admitted to Canning Hospital with serious injury. They should be brought to Kolkata for proper treatment and offenders should be booked without delay, he said.
He asked for immediate action. With this, the rift between WBPCC and TMC seems to have deepened all the more.
Another senior Congress leader said there hadnt been too much of a difference in the treatment that they used to get during the CPM rule. The attacks have taken place in a very similar fashion that prevailed during the CPM reign. The CM should take prompt and stern steps against these incidents before they snowball into bigger proportions in the near future.
LN Meena,SP,24 Parganas (S),said he was looking into the matter. Investigation is on after a report was filed with Canning PS and one person has been arrested. We hope to make more arrests soon, he said. State law minister Ujjal Biswas was quick to put all the blame on CPM and give TMC a clean chit.
Our boys cannot be a part of such a heinous act. CPM had turned the place into a war zone, playing with lives and future of students. These SFI students are attacking the Congress boys, making it look like the TMC has done it. Pradesh Congress leaders should see through this ploy of the CPM,which is trying all strategies to get back its lost power, he added.
