The State Election Commission Saturday announced repoll in six booths in Howrah,Krishnanagar and Bidhannagar municipalities where the election were held Friday.

Sources in the commission said four booths in Rajarhat area polled more votes than the number of voters registered there. The repoll will be conducted Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Left Front has alleged that “rampant rigging” took taken place in some of the booths .

“We have reports from the districts that in some of the booths, the voters were not allowed to cast their votes. Even though ink was put on their fingers, the TMC men present inside the booth cast their votes,” said Left Front chairman Biman Bose.

“TMC has turned the entire election procedure into a farce. And it has not been possible if they did not get full support from police and administration,” added Bose.

Calling all Left Front supporters to participate in a programme organised in the city November 29,Bose said the initiative is to protest against recurrent attack democracy and infringement on the people’s rights to vote.

“December 18 we will hold a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on same issue,” he said.
