The CBI has initiated an internal inquiry under its Special Unit (SU) into the “leakage” of the 18-page letter written to the agency by Saradha Group CMD Sudipta Sen in which he had named several leading politicians, including those of Trinamool Congress. The inquiry had to be instituted after Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate lodged an official complaint with the Central probe agency asking it to find out how the letter got leaked before it reached their office. It may be recalled that Sen wrote the letter on April 6. Though the letter was addressed to the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the CBI in Kolkata,it was believed to have been routed through the CBI headquarters in Delhi. It reached the ACB’s Kolkata office and was sent to Bidhanagar Police Commissionerate and also to the Salt Lake Electronics Complex police station. An official of Bidhannagar police said it was very strange as to how a “sealed” official letter could have got leaked on its the way. “We therefore, had to name the CBI personnel who had carried the letter in the official complaint,” the official added.
