Business world mourns loss

The chambers of commerce today said India had lost one of the great takeover kings in the business world.

The chambers of commerce today said India had lost one of the great takeover kings in the business world.

On the demise of R P Goenka,Kallol Dutta,vice president of Bengal Chamber of Commerce,said,“It’s a sad day for Bengal as well as for India. We have lost a visionary who was known as the takeover king.” One should follow the way he took over many companies and create successful enterprises through key strategic moves,Dutta added.

The Indian Chamber of Commerce deeply condoled the passing away of Goenka. In a press statement,it said India had lost a great champion of industry. A visionary leader,who made Kolkata and India proud,Goenka,as chairman emeritus of the RPG Group,transformed his organisation into a multi-sector Indian industrial conglomerate,which made its mark in the global business arena,the statement said.

The CII also expressed its condolences. “One of the tallest business leaders has passed away from our midst and India has lost one of the doyens of business,” said S Gopalakrishnan,president of CII.

“Mr Goenka’s erudition and knowledge was vast and helped industry draw from his worldview,” said Gopalakrishnan.
