The West Bengal government today rubbished a report that Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had informed Maoist leader Kishenji that he was forced to give his consent to the joint operations at Lalgarh.
The report, which claimed that Bhattacharjee had received a phone call from Kishenji 10 days ago and Bhattacharjee had informed the Maoist leader about his forced consent to the operation,is totally untrue, the chief ministers secretariat said in a release. It said Bhattacharjee neither telephoned the Maoist leader nor received any call from him as reported by The Statesmans Bengali edition today. There is no question of contacting that person either by telephone or other means, it said. According to the report, the CM told Kishenji that he was compelled to give consent to the joint operation at Lalgarh under pressure from Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and the party (CPM).
